Iona is a school on the rise and the momentum continues as the University focuses on expanding its academic offerings and elevating the student experience.

A master’s-granting Catholic institution founded in 1940, Iona is inspired by the legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers, grounded in a mission of faith, service, opportunity and the transformative power of education. The University’s two picturesque campuses – in New Rochelle and Bronxville, N.Y. – are both just 20 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. Connecting to its Irish legacy, Iona also opened a new campus in County Mayo, Ireland, located on the historic 400-acre Westport House Estate.

Iona students enjoy small class sizes, engaged professors and a wide array of undergraduate and graduate programs across three schools: the School of Arts & Science, LaPenta School of Business and the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences. In addition, the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation offers dynamic degree programs and is available to all students across academic disciplines.

CLASSROOM TO CAREER

At Iona, students not only obtain a robust liberal arts education, but also gain unparalleled access to top-tier internship and job opportunities throughout the New York-metropolitan area and beyond. These internships are a great way for students to build confidence, explore their career interests and gain an inside look into their chosen industries.

This summer, for instance, Diego Aguilar ’26 went from helping Iona students feel at home as a resident assistant to giving fans behind the scenes access to home plate at Citi Field with the New York Mets. A Long Island, N.Y., native, Aguilar found his fit at Iona because of its reputation for excellence in marketing and business education.

“I chose marketing as my major because I've always been drawn to understanding people,” Aguilar shared. “The marketing department has provided exceptional instruction, industry insights, and opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios."

Meanwhile, for Oluwawolemiwa Olusanya ’25, choosing Iona wasn’t just about picking a school – it was a strategic step toward a career in accounting. He just earned a full-time offer at EY, one of the Big Four accounting firms, saying one of Iona’s key advantages is the opportunity to gain practical experience within a supportive, close-knit community.

“At Iona, I gained self-confidence and the ability to form bonds from a single conversation,” he said. “I am well prepared for this opportunity at EY because I got the chance to practice amongst my peers during my time as a student.”

In addition, Iona’s 4+1 programs empower students to earn both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in just five years, reducing time and tuition costs. Students in the dual degree programs still receive all the benefits of an Iona education, but at an accelerated pace to begin a promising career sooner. Explore all five-year programs today!

LEARN OUTSIDE THE LINES

Outside of the classroom, meanwhile, Iona boasts 26 NCAA Division I varsity sports, including its newest teams – men's lacrosse, women’s acrobatics and tumbling, women’s golf and men’s and women’s tennis launching in 2026.

Iona students also enjoy over 100 student clubs and leadership organizations spanning an array of interests, including active fraternities and sororities. Iona has a robust club sports program – including a championship esports team – as well as a thriving performing arts program and wide range of service opportunities through the Office of Mission & Ministry.

Continuing to elevate the student experience, Iona this fall opened a brand-new dining hall and student union experience in the heart of its New Rochelle campus. The 20,000-square-foot, two-story transformation of the LaPenta Student Union reflects a vibrant vision for campus life, one rooted in community, connection and student leadership. In Bronxville, meanwhile, Iona also cut the ribbon on a new residence hall, Bohm Hall, further strengthening student life on Iona’s new campus.

“Iona University is on the rise and the momentum is undeniable. We continue to invest in the things that matter most, including world-class facilities, extraordinary faculty and staff, and the personalized support that empowers every student to succeed. It’s clear this is resonating not only with students and families but also with employers who value the outcomes of an Iona education,” said Kevin O’Sullivan, senior vice president for Enrollment and Student Affairs. “It’s rewarding to see national publications and peer institutions recognizing what we’ve long known: an Iona education is truly transformative in shaping confident leaders, fueling professional success and proving that Iona deserves a place on the national stage.”

Learn more about Iona University www.iona.edu today!

According to The Princeton Review, Iona students say that from their first year to their last, they are welcomed into an "inclusive community" that some say has "the feeling of home."

Undergraduates appreciate that the school has "a lot of resources available" and "a huge network of support that will allow you to pursue your dreams." They also note that there are "opportunities for internships and job offers since the school works so hard to have companies come in and talk with the students," and that being "so close to the city" helps.

When it comes to academics, undergrads are quick to note that "Iona is renowned for their business school," which gets students early access to real-world companies, doing things like creating "an integrated marketing communication plan [which allows] us to take what we learn in the classroom and apply it to the real world."

Students further say that no matter the class, “professors here are passionate about the subject material they are teaching.” Additionally, they “do an excellent job at preparing students for their intended field of study and providing a meaningful learning experience.” Perhaps most importantly, it’s evident that they “want to see you succeed at Iona.”

STUDENT BODY

At Iona, "respect and dignity are always a priority," so it is no surprise that undergrads speak very highly of their "warm and welcoming" peers. They see each other as "passionate, involved" individuals who are quick to "flash you a smile or hold open the door for you."

One student elaborates by saying, "I've met some of my best friends through asking a friendly face for help in many different areas at Iona. As another puts it, "The second I walked onto campus everyone made me feel like I belonged."

Enrollees also note that the Catholic university attracts a "diverse range of students from different religious backgrounds" and "a lot of people from all over the world. [It] is nice to know that I can always learn something new about a different country."

To those at Iona, the most important factor is how they join together to "care about their community and making a difference in the world." Beliefs like that are what lead some students to say their already impressive peers "are going to go far beyond what they expected."

CAMPUS LIFE

On both the academic and recreational side, students say that Iona looks to make sure “there is never a boring or dull moment here.”

The Princeton Review says students might see this play out in study spaces like the library's Harry Potter-esque room or the school's daily activity hour, a dedicated time during the noon to 1 p.m. period that "allows students to take a break from schoolwork, meet new people, and join in on an extracurricular activity."

In general, student engagement services offer many clubs and programs that are not only "exciting and interactive [but that] bring the student body closer together." For those professionally motivated, students say, "I love how they create opportunities...to network with alumni and participate in interesting career chats."

Of course, even with all these activities, students sometimes need a change of scenery. That's where they can capitalize on the university's "proximity to NYC to spend time in Manhattan to experience the Big Apple nightlife and cultural outlets."

THE MOMENTUM CONTINUES

Iona is a school on the rise and the momentum continues as it focuses on expanding its academic offerings and elevating the student experience.

At Iona, students not only obtain a robust liberal arts education, but also gain unparalleled access to top-tier internship opportunities throughout the New York-metropolitan area and beyond. These internships are a great way for students to build confidence, explore their career interests and gain an inside look into their chosen industries.

Outside of the classroom, meanwhile, Iona boasts 24 NCAA Division I varsity sports, including its newest teams – men's lacrosse, women’s acrobatics and tumbling, women’s golf and even more to be announced this fall.

Continuing to elevate the student experience, Iona this fall is opening a brand-new dining hall and student union experience in the heart of its 45-acre New Rochelle campus. The 20,000-square-foot, two-story transformation of the LaPenta Student Union reflects a vibrant vision for campus life, one rooted in community, connection and student leadership. In Bronxville, meanwhile, Iona will also cut the ribbon on a new residence hall, Bohm Hall, which further strengthens student life on Iona’s new 28-acre campus.

"From our small class sizes and dedicated faculty to our vibrant campus life, modern facilities and easy access to New York City, Iona offers an environment where students can discover who they are and where they want to go in life,” said Kevin O’Sullivan, senior vice president for Enrollment and Student Affairs. “It is gratifying to see that national publications are recognizing what we’ve known for a long time – that Iona is a top-choice destination for students to achieve meaningful and transformative success. We are thrilled to once again be included among The Princeton Review’s ‘Best 391 Colleges.’”

Learn more about Iona University or apply today!

 July 31, 2025

New Rochelle, N.Y. (July 2025) – Iona University’s on-campus MBA program has once again earned national recognition as The Princeton Review just named the LaPenta School of Business among its highly recommended “Best Business Schools for 2025.”

Known for its proximity to New York City, personalized attention and career preparation, the LaPenta School of Business continues to build upon its reputation as a premier destination for developing the next generation of business leaders.

The Princeton Review editors weighed more than 60 data points in their selection of best schools for this year’s list, including surveys of 22,800 students enrolled in the programs over the past three years.

Iona’s profile highlights “challenging classes that make learning exciting,” “a bright and cheerful atmosphere,” and professors who are “very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and always willing to help.”

“I love the fact that I can ask as many questions...and they will be able to explain in detail until I understand the topic,” one student shared.

Others added, “the greatest strength is the students in the MBA.” They are “engaging, willing to help, and easy to establish relationships [with]” while also being “self-motivated and focused on acquiring new skills and knowledge to advance their careers.”

New MBA Concentrations Address High-Demand Career Fields

Building on the momentum, the LaPenta School of Business recently launched two new MBA concentrations in Health Care Management and Human Resource Management to meet rising demand in these high-growth fields.

The Health Care Management concentration is designed for professionals looking to advance their careers and assume leadership roles in hospitals, health care systems and related organizations. The program combines core business strategy with specialized topics such as health care operations, ethics, marketing, law, information systems and data analytics.

The Human Resource Management concentration equips graduates to move into HR leadership positions. With a focus on talent development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, labor law and data analytics, the program helps to meet a growing demand for strategic HR managers.

Earlier this year, Iona also announced a new Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership & Innovation. Combining business acumen, design thinking, artificial intelligence and health care expertise, the program prepares graduates for various leadership roles in health care administration, delivery and policy. The degree is a collaboration between the LaPenta School of Business, the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences and the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Applications are now open to join the inaugural cohort for the Spring 2026 semester.

“As the needs of the workforce continuously evolve, Iona remains focused on providing students with the skills and perspectives they need to lead and succeed,” said John DeMelis, dean of the LaPenta School of Business. “These new concentrations reflect our mission to equip graduates for purposeful, impactful careers in growing sectors.”

Iona’s growing suite of MBA concentrations also includes Accounting, Business Analytics, Financial Management, Information Systems, Management and Marketing, offering students the flexibility to tailor their degree to their goals.

The LaPenta School of Business remains AACSB-accredited, a distinction held by just 6 percent of business schools globally. The ranking also considered the percentage of alumni who took part in a “significant experience” during their undergraduate business education, such as a major consulting project, thesis, professional development or meaningful global immersion.

Finally, the ranking measured the percentage of students whose first jobs after graduation were in their desired industries and companies. These experiences can also lead to full-time positions, giving Iona graduates a significant edge up in the job market.

Following a successful summer internship at Procter & Gamble, Silas Gates ’24 was offered a full-time position – which he said was “an ode to Iona.”

“There [were] many networking opportunities, internship openings and jobs available to me without having to be too far away from school,” he said. “I wanted to build my professional experience while achieving a degree. Iona gave me the best opportunity to do both.”

#2: AI-Driven, Cutting-Edge Curriculum

In a rapidly changing world, Iona is focused on innovating and expanding its programs to prepare students for the future – especially given the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI). Taking an AI-driven approach across all disciplines, Iona has launched the AI@Iona initiative to ensure students and faculty stay ahead of the curve in a tech-driven world.

Through the Gabelli Center for Teaching & Learning, all students and faculty are actively encouraged to leverage AI tools, infusing the power of this transformative technology into the practice of teaching and learning.

Rob Kissner, clinical lecturer in Iona’s Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, was an early adopter of AI tools and helped to launch Iona’s new AI minor.

“Students need to be equipped with the ability to use the current tools and the mindset to continue to experiment with new AI tools as they emerge,” he said. “Those who do not possess these skills and mindset will lose out on opportunities to those who do.”

#3: Vibrant, Spirited Campus Life

Reflecting Iona’s efforts to offer an engaging student experience, enrollment has surged over the past five years. With newly renovated residence halls and a new dining hall and student union coming soon, students are even more excited to become Gaels.

In fact, The Wall Street Journal ranked Iona among the best in New York and in the Top 25 nationwide for student experience, according to its 2025 list of “Best Colleges in the U.S.”

Also, there are over 80 clubs and leadership organizations at Iona, as well as many opportunities in the performing arts, 16 club sports and 24 NCAA Division I Athletics programs.

Whether it be through service-learning opportunities or hands-on research experience alongside faculty members, Iona students are encouraged to learn outside the lines of the classroom as they develop their leadership skills.

For Iona’s Grace Mutze ’25, marketing major and president of Gamma Lambda Rho sorority, she truly appreciates being a part of a tight-knit community.

“Everyone wants to see each other succeed, from professors to classmates. It's more than just a school – it's a family,” she said.

When it comes to academics, Iona students enjoy small class sizes, engaged professors and a wide array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs across three schools.

Notably, Iona’s dual-degree programs empower students to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in just five years, reducing time and tuition costs. At this accelerated pace, students can begin a promising career sooner. Enrollees in the 4+1 programs are also eligible for a variety of scholarships and/or merit awards.

According to recent alumnus Joshua Gitters ’18, ’19MS, who graduated with a dual degree in computer science with a concentration in cybersecurity, Iona not only provides an up-to-date curriculum, but also incredible internship opportunities. He firmly believes his internship at IBM was a catalyst for his career.

“One of the best parts about going to Iona was its connections to get students internships,” he said. “I was able to gain industry knowledge and get professional experience. I was also able to turn that into a full-time position once I graduated.”

Since 2019, new student enrollment is up over 40 percent at Iona.

Michael P. Hegarty '66, chair of the Iona Board of Trustees, expressed optimism about Iona’s trajectory and the success of its students. Both inside and outside the classroom, Iona has worked to expand opportunities, from distinguished academic programs and exceptional career outcomes to athletics, performing arts and service-learning opportunities around the world.

“Iona was established with a mission to provide a transformative educational experience, grounded in the values of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers,” Hegarty said. “As the University continues to grow, so do the possibilities for our students. Thank you to The Princeton Review for continuing to affirm that Iona is one of the best institutions of higher education in the nation.”

According to the book’s editors at The Princeton Review, students say that from their first to final year at Iona University, they are welcomed into an "inclusive community" that some say has "the feeling of home."

The book’s editors at The Princeton Review say students might see this play out in study spaces like the library's “Harry Potteresque” room or the school's daily activity hour, a dedicated period from noon to 1 p.m. that "allows students to take a break from schoolwork, meet new people, and join in on an extracurricular activity."

The momentum continues to rise at Iona – and students and families are taking notice. Driven in part of by new academic programs and degrees coupled with expanded opportunities to “Learn Outside the Lines,” not only has new student enrollment continued to climb, but the Class of 2028 is also one of Iona’s strongest, most selective and most diverse group of students.

Iona is a master’s-granting Catholic institution founded in 1940 and inspired by the legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers.

The University’s two picturesque campuses – in New Rochelle and Bronxville, N.Y. – are both just 20 miles north of Midtown Manhattan.

Established in 2021, Iona’s Bronxville campus not only includes additional athletic facilities and performing arts spaces; it also is notably home to the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences and the state-of-the-art Kelly Center for Health Sciences. This premier new school offers a variety of undergraduate and advanced degrees in collaboration with one of the nation’s top hospitals, including top clinical placements and full-time employment opportunities after graduation.

Connecting to its Irish legacy, Iona also opened a new campus in County Mayo, Ireland, located on the historic 400-acre Westport House Estate, earlier this year. The next group of students is set to live and learn in Westport in May 2025.

Continuing to elevate the student experience in New Rochelle, a brand-new dining hall and student union experience is currently underway. Adjoining the Murphy Green in the heart of campus, the new facility is set to open by Spring 2025.

Iona also recently launched the Gabelli Center for Teaching & Learning, a hub for institutional innovation, faculty development and thought leadership with a focus on Catholic education. The Gabelli Center’s first focus has been AI@Iona, which supports engagement with the powerful and rapidly evolving capabilities of artificial intelligence.

At Iona, students not only obtain a robust liberal arts education, but also gain unparalleled access to top-tier internship opportunities throughout the New York-metropolitan area and beyond. These internships are a great way for students to build confidence, explore their career interests and gain an inside look into their chosen industries.

Herolinda Dacaj ’25, for instance, dedicated her summer break interning for Merrill Lynch in Greenwich, Conn., where she worked in private wealth management and now will continue her internship as a seasonal client associate until June 2025. She credits Iona’s small class sizes and engaged faculty and staff for helping her realize her goals.

“I believe the most distinctive advantage I gained from my Iona experience is that I have felt seen and heard,” she said. “The LaPenta School of Business also offers an abundance of resources to prepare students for their future careers. Most importantly, events like Career Chats and C-Suite talks have been extremely motivational. Iona alumni frequently return to campus to share invaluable advice about their professional journeys, which has been incredibly inspiring. Overall, my Iona experience has given me the knowledge, connections and confidence to excel in my career.”

Outside of the classroom, meanwhile, Iona boasts 24 NCAA Division I varsity sports, including its two newest teams – men's lacrosse and women’s acrobatics and tumbling – as well as women’s golf launching for the 2025-26 academic year.

Iona students can also join over 80 student clubs and leadership organizations spanning an array of interests, including active fraternities and sororities. Iona has a robust club sports program – featuring 16 new teams and including a championship esports team – plus a thriving performing arts program and wide range of service opportunities through the Office of Mission & Ministry.

All programs are geared toward developing new and lasting friendships while also building leadership skills and enhancing student engagement across campus.

Lucas Haddad ’24, ’25MBA echoed this sentiment, saying “the most distinctive advantage I have gained from my Iona experience is my leadership skills.”

Hailing from North Attleboro, Mass., Haddad completed an internship at PwC last summer, and this year he enjoyed an audit internship at Ernst & Young, one of the big four accounting firms.

He is also a member of the Swimming & Diving Team, Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Beta Alpha Psi Honor Society, Accounting Club and the Gaels Go Further Mentoring Program, which connects students and alumni for career guidance and mentoring.

“Whether it was leading in my sport or during group projects in the classroom, I feel I have grown significantly [as a leader], which will translate into my career,” said Haddad, who holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Iona and will complete his MBA with a concentration in business analytics next year. “Iona has prepared me for the job market because it has helped me improve my time management skills and build my network tremendously through alumni engagement, mainly in the Gaels Go Further Mentoring Program.”
